Singapore CV Format 2026
Singapore is a small, competitive and unusually well-organised hiring market. Two features shape how CVs get read there, and neither exists in most other markets.
The first is the Fair Consideration Framework, under which employers are generally required to advertise roles on the national jobs portal and give fair consideration to local candidates before hiring a foreign professional. The second is that work pass eligibility is assessed against published criteria administered by the Ministry of Manpower, including salary and qualification benchmarks that are periodically revised.
Both are government schemes with changing rules. Check the current requirements with the Ministry of Manpower directly. What follows is about the CV.

Length and Structure
Two pages. Singapore sits between the US one-page convention and the longer European CV, and two pages is the clear norm for a professional with experience. One page is acceptable for graduates and early-career candidates. Three reads as unedited.
Standard structure:
- Header
- Professional summary, three to four lines
- Professional experience, reverse chronological
- Education
- Skills and certifications
- Optional: languages, professional memberships
What Goes in the Header
Singapore is closer to Western convention than the Gulf on personal detail, with one important exception.
Include: name, phone with country code, email, LinkedIn, and current location.
Include your work authorisation status. This is the exception, and it matters. State plainly whether you are a Singapore citizen, a Permanent Resident, currently hold an Employment Pass or S Pass, or would require sponsorship. Employers screen on this because sponsorship carries cost, quota implications and process time. Leaving it ambiguous does not help you — it means the recruiter has to assume the more expensive case.
Omit: photograph, date of birth, marital status, race, religion, NRIC or FIN number. Older Singapore templates included several of these and some legacy application forms still ask. Do not volunteer them on the CV, and never put an NRIC or FIN number on a widely distributed document.
Salary Expectations
Singapore is one of the few markets where including a current or expected salary on the CV, or in the covering note, is common and often explicitly requested.
If the posting asks, answer it. Give a figure or a narrow range in SGD, and specify whether it is monthly or annual — Singapore commonly quotes monthly. If the posting does not ask, leave it off the CV and hold it for the conversation.
Be aware that for Employment Pass consideration, salary benchmarks apply and vary by sector and age. An unrealistically low expectation can create a problem rather than making you cheaper to hire.
What Singaporean Employers Weight
Regional scope. Singapore functions as a regional hub. If your experience covers Southeast Asia, APAC or any multi-market remit, say so explicitly and name the markets. "Managed the APAC portfolio across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam" is a stronger line here than in almost any other market.
Quantified commercial outcomes. Singapore hiring is direct and numbers-oriented. Revenue, cost, headcount, growth rates, throughput.
Credentials. Degrees from recognised institutions, professional qualifications, and vendor certifications all carry weight. Include institution names in full.
Stability with progression. A pattern of one-year tenures is scrutinised more here than in some markets. Where you have short stints, give the reason briefly — contract role, project completion, company restructure — rather than leaving a gap for the reader to interpret.
The ATS Layer
Large Singaporean employers, the banks in particular, run mature applicant tracking systems. Workday, SuccessFactors, Taleo and Greenhouse are all common, alongside agency portals.
Single column, standard headings, no tables or text boxes, PDF. Our guide to how ATS filters resumes covers the parsing rules.

- A US one-page resume that omits necessary detail
- Photograph included, harming the parse
- Regional scope not made explicit
- Salary expectation given when not asked, or omitted when explicitly requested
- Short tenures left unexplained
Checklist
