Questions RPA developers ask
Can an RPA developer become a software engineer?
Yes, but low-code platform experience alone won't get you through software interviews. Build depth in C# or Python, since both show up in RPA work. Then ship something outside the platform. Integration and automation engineering roles are a common stepping stone.
Which certifications help an RPA developer move up?
Platform certifications, which count for more in RPA than in most engineering fields because many employers are platform partners. The common ones are UiPath Automation Developer Professional, Automation Anywhere Certified Advanced RPA Professional and Microsoft Certified: Power Automate RPA Developer Associate. Add your platform's architect-level certification when you aim for solution architect roles.
Should RPA developers learn Python?
Yes. Python handles the parts of a process a bot does badly, like APIs, data cleanup, document AI and LLM calls. It also makes you hireable outside one vendor's platform, which matters if your employer ever drops that platform.
